終於要進入下半場了！
上半場的音樂就已經叫我如癡如醉了，
劇情也並不冷場，且相當討喜與完整，
好似以男女主角的結婚做了一個完美Ending，
那麼下半場還有什麼精彩好戲呢？

卻遭小人Pete陷害，被迫離開演藝船，
Andy船長決定讓他女兒Nola和女兒的戀人Gaylord擔起主演的角色，
最後獲得了觀眾廣大的回響，也吸引了更多來自各地方的人們前來觀賞，
另一方面，Ellie這位喜劇演員其實並不想一直扮演丑角，
Frank則因Gaylord的迅速走紅，有些心理不平衡，
長期與Ellie搭檔的他，且向Ellie表達他想要娶她，
而Nola和Gaylord則因著Andy的支持，不顧Parthy的反對，在眾人的祝福下結婚了。

緊接著的1936電影版劇情，也沒有出現在最初的音樂劇當中，
Queenie為什麼擔心Nola呢？那是因為她要生小寶寶了！
在狂風驟雨，Joe決定幫忙去找醫生，
而這麼重要的時刻，Gaylord卻沒有在Nola身邊，
原來，他跑去賭博了！
Gaylord賺了錢回來後，才知道Nola生了寶寶，
他且決定要帶Nola遠走高飛。
之後幾年，他們到了Chicago，一起去賽馬，並用賺來的錢買豪華的車子出遊，
遠在Mississippi、久久沒見到Nola的Andy，便和Parthy商量一起去Chicago旅行。

19.〈In Dahomey〉by 黑人表演團(Dahomeys) & 白人觀眾
這首歌與《Show Boat》的故事主軸其實沒有什麼關聯性，
《In Dahomey》原本是1903年出品的一齣音樂劇，
以第一部在百老匯由黑人創作與演出的長音樂劇著名，
內容在描寫一群非裔美國人發現了大量黃金後，回到非洲成為達荷美帝國統治者的故事。
但在這裡，這首歌是在呈現1893年的芝加哥世界博覽會(Chicago World's Fair)，
有一群住在美國的達荷美人必須在眾人面前表演達荷美秀(Dahomey show)，
他們在白人面前說著非洲土語，並故意野蠻吼叫嚇走了白人，
但在白人離開後，他們卻講著英文，
事實上，他們表演著他們所陌生的達荷美文化，
他們真希望沒有參與這場秀，而是趕快回到自己住的地方Avenue A。

20. 〈Convent Scene〉by Nuns
時間來到1904年的Chicago，
Gaylord來到修道院想見他的女兒Kim，
並向她表示因為工作必須離開一陣子，希望她會想他，
而女兒則貼心地說她總是會想念他，
且當她想念的時候，她都會記得爸爸要她「Make Believe」。

場景來到了Trocadero Night Club，
Frank帶Nola來此進行試唱好推薦給這家劇院的老闆，
而在試鏡之前，女舞群在排練室練習著，
接著，輪到了之前被迫離開演藝船的Julie練唱一首新曲，
Julie心情不好，不想練習，但被老闆的嚴詞說服了，
其實，這首歌正反映著Julie的心境，
原來，Steve離開了Julie，她才會過著如此失意酗酒的生活。

於是，輪到失意的Nola進行試唱，Frank在一旁陪著她，
唱的時候，背後台的Julie聽到了，
Julie發現是Nola，便毅然決然地離開，想把職缺留給了Nola，
唱了第一遍後，老闆覺得還差了些什麼，
琴手建議把這首曲子用比較滑稽、帶有開玩笑意味的繁音節奏來試唱，
Nola漸漸跟上後，老闆同意錄用她。
