本來有點想放棄了，但想說這是自己學習的大好機會，
豈能隨意放棄了，況且我才剛開始而已，
所以，就讓我繼續來介紹《Show Boat》這齣音樂劇。
上次的劇情大家還記得嗎？
讓我簡單說給大家聽。
音樂劇《Show Boat》的角色人物：
*Andy Hawks：演藝船的船長
*Parthy Ann Hawks：Andy船長的妻子
*Magnolia Hawks (Nola)：船長夫婦的女兒
*Gaylord Revenal：職業賭徒，很會唱歌，後來與Nola結婚
*Kim Revenal：Gaylord和Nola的女兒
*Steve Baker：演藝船上的著名男主演
*Julie LaVerne：演藝船上的著名女主演，Steve的妻子，有黑人血統
*Frank Schultz：演藝船上的演員
*Ellie May Chipley：演藝船上的演員，後來成為Frank的妻子
*Pete：演藝船上的技師
*Joe：上了演藝船的碼頭工人，黑人
*Queenie：演藝船的廚師，Joe的妻子，黑人
劇的開頭，碼頭工人忙著工作，訴說著他們的辛苦，
而鎮上的人們看到了演藝船(Cotton Blossom)進港，興奮地聚集，
接著，Gaylord出場，唱著〈Where's dat Mate for Me〉，
並看見了船上的Nola，一見鍾情，並開始交談，Nola突然想起家人說不要隨意跟陌生人交談，因此表示要走了，
但Gaylord用浪漫的言詞卸下了她的心房。
後來Gaylord因故先行離去，Joe這時剛好揹著麵粉經過，
Nola興喜地問他有沒有看到剛剛和他談話的男士，
並說要趕緊去問Julie的意見，
Joe則說應該問問什麼都知道的老密西西比河。
這時，Nola跑來告訴Julie她戀愛了，並詢問她的意見，
Queenie和Joe聽見歌聲，驚訝Julie竟然會唱平常只有黑人會唱的傳統民謠，
Julie其實有黑人的血統，但外表看不出來，
她故作鎮定，並將整首曲子唱完，
表達女人若陷入愛情就難以自拔了。
畫面移到了Ellie和鎮上婦女的互動，
Ellie告訴她們：演員的生活並不如她們所想的那樣美好。
那麼接下來又發生了什麼事情呢？
讓我們繼續介紹下去。

這時畫面又轉到了Gaylord的身上，
但這次Gaylord正在講述他自己的生活態度，一位賭徒的心聲，
也就是他是個很有冒險精神的人，他相信好運壞運終會輪流替轉，
沒有冒險，怎麼會有獲得呢？

10.〈Mis'ry's Comin' Aroun'〉by Queenie & 黑人合唱團 & Julie
一天，Queenie感到悲劇即將臨到，便唱著不安的歌曲，
而事實便是Pete向警長通風報信，說有黑人血統的Julie和白人Steve結婚，
原來在當時的密西西比，白人和有色人種通婚是違法的，
正在排演的Steve和Julie等人，終於等到了遲到的Ellie，
Steve卻從Ellie得知警長很快就要來了，
緊張的他排練不下去，便將這事也讓Julie知道，
Julie害怕地癱軟，眾人以為她病了，
Steve這時在眾人面前，拿出一把刀，劃破了Julie的手，並吸吮著Julie的血，
當警長一行人到了船上，質問Steve和Julie時，
眾人都做見證說Steve體內有黑人的血，
雖然免於法律的制裁，但是他們必須離開船，
因為黑人在當時也不被允許公眾表演。
Andy船長這時開始為著誰能擔任男女主演而煩惱，Frank卻才姍姍來遲，
他向大家表示他知道發生了什麼事，因為當時Pete和警長報信時他也在場，
而他接著把在鎮上遇見的Gaylord帶進來推薦給Andy，Andy欣然地接納了他，
接著，Andy拒絕了Ellie的自薦，並認為女兒Nola可以勝任，
Nola正為著Julie的離開非常難過，但Julie相信Nola的能力並鼓勵她去演，
當Nola發現要與他主演的人竟然是Gaylord，態度便柔軟下來了，
傷心不捨地與Julie道別後，Steve和Julie便離開了，
而Andy不顧Parthy的反對，讓Nola和Gaylord開始排戲，他們則散發著濃濃的愛意，
Joe看著他們，哼唱著〈Ol' Man River〉，感到事情又有了新的進展。

此外，不僅背景音樂有出現小段的歌曲旋律，
還另外先把Pete向警長通風報信的場景演出來，
同時也看到了Gaylord嗜賭的一面；
另外，劇情也有些不一樣，
在確定Steve和Julie無法繼續留在船上後，
Gaylord的出現並不如原劇是由Frank找來，而是毛遂自薦。

11.〈I Would Like To Play a Lover's Part〉by 鎮上的人們, Ellie, & Frank
經過短短三週，Magnolia和Gaylord就成了鎮上的知名人物，
男的都愛Magnolia，女的都愛Gaylord，
他們都認為這兩個人大概就是戀人了，
卻又希望自己就是扮演舞台上那愛人的角色；
另一方面，Frank渴望被愛戴，卻始終無法奪得女孩們的眼光。

電影版在此再次省略了歌曲，
直接用散場的人潮和人們的對話，
來描寫大家對Magnolia和Gaylord的愛慕，

Frank在了解到鎮上的女孩們都不愛慕他後，
他轉而向多年以來的喜劇夥伴Ellie求愛。

13.〈Queenie's Ballyhoo〉by Queenie & 黑人合唱團
Queenie問候Andy劇場是否坐滿了人，
Andy說只差包廂沒有坐人，
Queenie知道那是給有色人種的座位，
Andy納悶為什麼他們不來，
Queenie則告訴Andy他那種落落長的宣傳方式不適合黑人，
便開始親自去邀攬黑人來買票，
很快地，黑人都排隊來買票，票也很快就賣光了。

1936電影版雖然省略了此段，但卻有非常不同於原劇的呈現，
某天，Parthy跟Andy說收到來自Pete的信，
Pete在信中說他有關於Gaylord有趣的消息，
Andy希望對此不予理會，但Parthy卻決定隔天一早要去見Pete了解真相，
而當天的表演，來了更多的人，包含了偏遠地區來的鄉巴佬及當地的有色人種，
Gaylord和Nola在台上的演出，可以看出他們真的彼此戀愛，而非只是在演戲，
演戲過程中，不太懂劇場禮儀的鄉巴佬頻頻打擾演員的演出，
直到Frank這位反派角色的出場，惹毛了其中一位鄉巴佬觀眾，並對台上開槍，
整部戲被迫停止，Andy只好上台自導自演、一飾多角，最終仍博得觀眾熱烈的掌聲；
接著，Andy為了表達對有色人種的重視，特別準備了他們較熟悉與喜愛的表演，
Nola便化妝成黑人，演唱了一曲〈Gallivantin' Aroun'〉(歌詞在本段的後頭) 。

16.〈Finale Act I〉by 鎮上的人們 & Magnolia
婚禮就要舉行了，Andy邀請了鎮上的人們一同見證，
正當大家歡喜快樂、送上祝福之時，
Parthy卻趕了回來，後面還跟著Pete和警長，
他們指控Gaylord是個殺人犯，但警長卻尷尬地解釋他是自衛殺人，
Andy認為Parthy大驚小怪，不理會她的反對，
並趁著Parthy昏了過去，繼續舉辦婚禮，
眾人都為這對新人而開心。
